Hard to believe it was 16 years ago. So horrific and so surreal watching it all happen. Thoughts and prayers to all the families of the victims of this senseless attack. #Neverforget.
On a lighter note, my home in Venice, FL survived Irma! That biatch! She took out one of screens on my lanai, and I am hopeful Florida Power and Light can get the electricity back on soon. Thanks for all the good wishes and juju!
In the news today….
We knew if was only a matter of time than we’d see this guy back in the news. The Pulse Of Radio says Puddle Of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Saturday (Sep 9th) on gun charges. According to TMZ, Scantlin was busted after he attempted to board a plane with a BB gun. He was taken to jail and booked, with his bail set at $850,000. There may have been other charges involved as well, although that has not been fully determined.
Although it was initially reported that Puddle Of Mudd canceled its show that night in Keller, Texas, the rest of the band apparently went forward with the gig. Refunds, however, were available for fans disappointed by the bandleader’s absence.
It’s actually been a relatively quiet year for the troubled Scantlin, with the last reported incident of any kind coming in April when he left a show four songs into the set. Previously, however, there have been a few tumultuous years for the singer and guitarist. In January of 2016, he was arrested on suspicion of breaking into his former home and vandalizing some of the property. He skipped two court dates related to the charges later that spring, which led to another arrest.
Prior to that, Scantlin was arrested in December 2015 for possession of a controlled substance and had several previous busts that same year for driving under the influence. Airport incidents are a Scantlin specialty. He was arrested at a Denver airport in 2015 for taking a joyride on a baggage carousel and also taken into custody as far back as 2012 for an altercation with a Jet Blue flight attendant. He also ended a number of Puddle Of Mudd shows in 2016 early with various meltdowns, including one in which he accused a fan of stealing his house.
Puddle Of Mudd is scheduled to stay on the road through late December, with its next scheduled show this Friday (Sep 15th) in Roanoke, VA. Hopefully Scantlin will make it there.
Nickelback was joined onstage at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on Friday night (Sep 8th) by the former wife of Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, pop singer Avril Lavigne. Lavigne got up onstage with the group to perform “Rockstar.” The quartet was also joined for the song by a fan named Owen who was plucked out of the audience at random by guitarist Ryan Peake.
Nickelback tweeted after the show, “You never know who will join us for ‘Rockstar’ karaoke. And tonight we got super lucky with these two rockstars. It just might be you next!”
Lavigne was married to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger for two years before the pair decided to split in 2015. They tied the knot in Canada in July 2013. Both fell victim to ill health the same year that they separated: Lavigne disclosed her debilitating battle with Lyme disease while Kroeger had a cyst removed from his vocal cords.
Nickelback continues to tour in support of its ninth album, Feed The Machine, which was released on Jun 16th. The band next plays at Red Rocks in Morrison, CO on Tuesday (Sep 12th). (The Pulse Of Radio)
OZZY, above, in bonus footage from last season’s OZZY & JACK’S WORLD DETOUR! Looks like we will have a season 2!
Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour, the travel and history show starring Ozzy Osbourne and his son Jack, has been picked up for a 10-episode second season. For its sophomore run, the unscripted series will be moving from The History Channel, where it aired its first season, to A&E. Both channels are owned by A&E Networks.
The first season, which aired last summer, featured Ozzy and Jack traveling the world together, exploring the history behind some of the planet’s most famous sites, while checking out some lesser-known locations along the way. Among the places they visited were Mount Rushmore, Stonehenge, the Alamo, Roswell, the Jamestown Settlement and Sun Studios.
Ozzy told us during the first season what the concept of the show was: “It’s just like a father-and-son spoof on history. You know, we went to Stonehenge, we met a guy who thinks he’s the reincarnation of King Arthur. We went to Bletchley Park to see the machine that the guy (Alan Turing) used to break the (German) code. It’s kind of interesting with an Osbourne twang to it, you know.”
Until doing this program, Ozzy had not starred in a regularly scheduled TV series since the MTV reality show The Osbournes ended a four-season run in 2005. A variety show called Osbournes Reloaded ended after one episode on Fox in 2009.
Ozzy has three live solo dates coming up: the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, KY on Sep 30th, the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA Oct 22nd, and the second Ozzfest Meets Knotfest in San Bernardino, CA on Nov 4th. (The Pulse Of Radio)
