🙁
Sigh, I did not win the Powerball.
Huge day today around here! It’s the NYC stop on the hardDrive Live Tour with Sick Puppies, Red Sun Rising, Stitched Up Heart and HUDSON. Early this morning, well, early for ME, Stitched Up Heart drops in for acoustic performance and interviews, followed by Red Sun Rising. Tonight’s the show, tomorrow Sick Puppies are in at 8 AM to start a satellite tour of radio stations, and interview with yours truly. So, to say we are a little busy is, well, just an understatement! LOL
SHARRRRRRRRRONNNNNNN!!!!
I was sorry to read this news yesterday of the separation of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. Ozzy has reportedly moved out of their home in Beverly Hills. It is rumored he was caught having an affair with a 45-year old hairdresser! Wait, what???? He is so devoted to Sharon. And she him. It’s like, crazy! They’ve been married for 33 years for cryin’ out loud!
I remember meeting Ozzy and Sharon back when Sharon looked NOTHING like she does now and Ozzy was, well, Ozzier! It was back in the days of the 80’s. Right around the time of their marriage, actually.
The Pulse Of Radio reports multiple sources, including E! News and Us Weekly, reported on Sunday (May 8th) that legendary rock singer and his wife had split up. A source told E! News that Ozzy had agreed to move out of the couple’s house at least temporarily, and that the break-up had nothing to do with Ozzy’s sobriety. The Black Sabbath singer has reportedly been clean and sober for more than three years after falling off the wagon for an 18-month period in 2011 and 2012.
British tabloid The Sun reported the split came about after Sharon discovered Ozzy was having an affair with a celebrity hairstylist. A source told People the rumors were “sort of true,” but also added they would not be surprised if the couple worked things out, saying “He’ll be back.”
Backstory: Sharon took over Ozzy’s management from her father Don Arden in 1980 and helped launch his hugely successful solo career after he was booted from Sabbath in 1979. The two got married on July 4th, 1982. This is not the first time Sharon and Ozzy have separated. Back in 2013, Sharon admitted she was considering divorcing Ozzy after he relapsed on alcohol and drugs. But she said on her daytime show The Talk, “We’re not getting divorced. However, am I happy? No. Am I upset? Yes I am. I’m devastated right now . . . We’ve dealt with worse. We’re dealing with it and this too shall pass.”
Ozzy has previously credited Sharon for saving his life, saying, “I’m alive because I’ve got a strong wife, I think. I didn’t expect to live past 30. I remember when I was 21 saying I would be dead by 40.”
The couple have three children — 31-year-old Aimee, 29-year-old Kelly and 28-year-old Jack — and their relationship has been volatile over the years: Ozzy almost strangled his wife after a five-day drinking binge in 1989.
Ozzy is currently in the midst of a year-long farewell tour with Sabbath and is expected to announce some other news soon, possibly as early as this week. It is not clear whether the announcement of his split with Sharon will affect future plans or her status as his manager. Stay tuned. I may need to record The Talk today!
Pulse also reporting today on this California band. Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis said the band scrapped at least two albums worth of songs and wrote new ones when it began working with producer Brian “Danger Mouse” Burton on its upcoming new disc The Getaway. Speaking with Los Angeles radio station KROQ, Kiedis explained, “We had an unusually difficult experience making this record where we wrote 20 to 30 songs and it was all ready to go and we thought it was happening, and then Flea went snowboarding and broke his arm real bad.“
Kiedis continued, “So we rethought everything and then we didn’t have a producer and we were just sort of lost in space with all these songs . . . when all the dust settled Brian Burton, aka Danger Mouse, emerged and said ‘Let’s go make a record.’ We were like ‘Great, we have all these songs’ and he was like ‘Leave those there, let’s go write new songs in the studio.’ So the process began over again.”
Kiedis said that although Burton had listened to all the songs the band had already prepped, “He just wanted to see what would happen when we went into the studio and started something fresh.” The singer admitted that there was “pushback” at the first to the idea, but added, “The only way we saw this working was to have trust in him and get rid of our old ideas and our old way of doing things.”
The Getaway is due out June 17th. The first single, “Dark Necessities,” premiered last week. The band has a number of festival appearances coming up, including a radio festival in Irvine, CA on May 14th, Ohio’s Rock On The Range on May 22nd and BottleRock in Napa, CA on May 29th. The group will then head to Europe for a while before returning to headline Lollapalooza in Chicago on Jul 30th.
I love these people! Disturbed invited Lzzy Hale of Halestorm to be a part of their cover song medley portion of their set in Nashville at the Ascend Amphitheater on Saturday night. Here’s a portion of Lzzy belting it out on their U2 cover of “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.” LOVE. So happy to call them friends!
