What a killer weekend in the great Northeast. Weather couldn’t have been better. Then we hear the news of the violence in Sacramento on Sunday, and you just wish you lived in a world without crazy people.
So in an effort to erase that, enjoy this:
Guns N’ Roses performing a classic at the opening night of their U.S. Not In This Lifetime Tour in Detroit. Turn it up.
Blabbermouth reporting Chevelle has unveiled a new song called “Young Wicked” from the band’s upcoming album, The North Corridor. The disc, the Chicago trio’s eighth studio effort, will arrive on Jul 8th.
“The North Corridor” was helmed by Joe Barresi, the American record engineer and producer who has previously worked with Chevelle as well as Kyuss, Melvins, Tool and Queens Of The Stone Age, among others.
Drummer Sam Loeffler stated about the songwriting process for the new CD: “We just wanna write a bunch of songs that we like and we wanna play every day on stage. Pete’s [Loeffler, guitar/vocals] our writer. He works tirelessly at it. We work on everything together, but Pete writes the songs and he brings them to us and then we compose them as a band, as most bands do. And it’s been a really good process. We’re super excited to play these songs. ‘Cause you play songs for so long, you just wanna play new stuff.”
Asked if they are involved in picking singles from the albums or if they just leave it to the label to make that decision, Pete Loeffler said: “We actually battle everyone all the time. We have a good feeling when we get close — ten [or] fifteen songs that we’re gonna do. But, ultimately, it comes down to just hashing it out and picking one, which is tough. It’s not easy.”
Although Chevelle’s contract with Sony Music/Epic expired after 2014’s La Gargola album, the band ended up signing a new deal with the label. Sam told hardDrive “When our record contract was up, we put it out there into the music world and said, ‘Who’s interested?’ Of course our label, Epic, came back with the best offer because they had our catalog. They had all that stuff already and they were able to give us not just — because it wasn’t really in the sense of money, ’cause it’s not like there was a huge amount of money, there wasn’t — but it was the fact that they were already promoting our catalog and things like that. That was really where the benefit was.”
Chevelle start touring on Jul 10th. Some of the dates are with Bush, others are headline gigs. See Road Rage. Looking forward to seeing the band in the NYC area Aug 02.
Alternative Press have reported Bring Me The Horizon posted a new song, apparently their next single from That’s The Spirit, called “Avalanche.” Meanwhile, sometime this fall, perhaps September, they will release the DVD/CD of their Apr 22nd show at the Royal Albert Hall, which was performed with an orchestra. Looking forward to seeing that!
Young Guns have announced Echoes is the title of their new album, due Sep 16th. The first single is called “Bulletproof,” the lyric video is above, and it drops very soon!

In news briefs:
Blabbermouth reporting Stone Sour will enter the studio in Jan 2017 to begin recording its long-awaited follow-up to 2013’s House Of Gold And Bones, with plans to release the effort in the summer of 2017. Asked how the songwriting for the new set was going, bassist Johny Chow told Detroit and hardDrive affiliated radio station WRIF, “It’s turning out amazing right now. I wasn’t expecting how awesome these songs are. They’re really solid. I’m really, really psyched on them. A lot of high energy.”
Corey Taylor told hardDriveRadio the band is working away and we talked about how Come (What)Ever May will be 10th years old in August. Where does the time go?
The PRP says Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson and ex-Limp Bizkit turntablist DJ Lethal have teamed up in a new project called Lethal Wilson. They are both UNREAL DJ’s, so I’ll bet this could be an interesting project for you turntable enthusiasts! At present, the two musicians have revealed very little about their collaboration, but they’ve started a Facebook page that is teasing that music will be coming soon. And Sid also turned us on to a new band from South America called The ReAktion. Check them out.
Blink 182 fans will be happy to know the band has released that new lyric video for “No Future.” Their new album, California, drops Jul 01. (Alternative Press)
