I Prevail’s bus broke down! 🙁
Good day everyone! First off, our FACEBOOK LIVE event originally scheduled for this morning at 11 AM ET with our friends I PREVAIL has been moved to tomorrow at 2 PM ET. Why, you ask? Unfortunately, their tour bus started leaking oil when they were getting ready to leave Pittsburgh last night, so they sent me an email to say they were sorry and had to move the event one day ’til they can get the problem repaired. SO…..Please keep voting on the hardDriveRadio or I Prevail Facebook pages for the song you’d like to see them perform live: “Scars,” “Blank Space” or “My Heart I Surrender.” Do it NOW! And tell your friends!
The original Smashing Pumpkins line-up: James Iha, Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, D’arcy Wretzky
Could it be? The Pulse Of Radio reporting a reunion of the original Smashing Pumpkins could be on the way, according to Consequence Of Sound. An “industry source” told the site frontman and founder Billy Corgan has begun shopping an reunion of the original quartet for headlining shows and festival slots next summer. Corgan himself told fans in a Facebook post last Thursday (Jul 28th), “There’s some big stuff happening. We’re making plans. I can’t give that away, but it’s going to be interesting.“
The original lineup of the group, including Corgan, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, guitarist James Iha and bassist D’arcy Wretzky, hasn’t played together since Wretzky’s departure in 1999. The rest of the band broke up in 2000, with Corgan and Chamberlin assembling an all-new version in 2007. Chamberlin has been in and out since, but has been back in the band for the past year.
Chamberlin told us a while back that any Pumpkins reunion would have to feature the founding lineup: “I would hope it would be the original members. I mean, that would be a dream come true for me and I think that would be the coolest thing all-around. I can only speak for myself and I can certainly tell you what my own dreams are and, yeah, I hope it’s the four people who started the band. I mean, I think that would be the way to go.”
The 1999-2000 version with Melissa Auf der Maur.
Meanwhile, Iha performed with the current band onstage last March, while Wretzky — who has been long out of the music scene — recently said she would “consider” playing bass again. (Hmmm, if she isn’t available, what about Melissa Auf der Maur? I don’t think she’s been playing with anyone in a bit and I see she and her husband own an arts and performance center in Hudson, NY. Hmmmm. Wonder if she would do it? But she was only with the band for one year from 1999-2000.)
Corgan’s relationships with Iha and Wretzky have not been good over the years, with him calling Wretzky a “a mean-spirited drug addict” and Iha “one of the worst human beings I’ve ever met in my life.” But earlier this year, Corgan expressed his desire to “find peace” with both. Fueling speculation even more, Corgan also announced on Facebook that he and current Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder were forming a new band with other musicians who have been part of the Pumpkins’ touring lineup. Corgan also revealed that he has just completed work on a solo album.
More dates have been added to Maynard James Keenan‘s book tour! Keenan, who is known for not merely being protective about his personal life but at times pointedly cagey and misleading about his history, will participate in a moderated discussion about the book and his decision to share such intimate details about his life. The special evening also includes Keenan reading passages from A Perfect Union of Contrary Things (Nov. 8, Backbeat Books) with a backdrop of never before seen photos and videos, as well as taking questions from the audience in what will be a rare moment of direct interaction between the elusive musician and the fans of his projects.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, A Day To Remember frontman Jeremy McKinnon has said in a new interview with Rock Sound the band’s new album Bad Vibrations was a struggle to record. McKinnon explained, “I went in to record with nothing much to offer, hardly anything that I was excited about. The record is called ‘Bad Vibrations’ because that’s what I was feeling at the time — stuck in this weird, high stress mindset every day. I’ve never had a problem with pushing other people’s expectations aside before, but it became a real issue. Thankfully the other guys stepped in and brought some great stuff to the table.”
McKinnon told Alternative Press the bad feelings he had going into the new album were a spillover from the difficult recording process for 2013’s Common Courtesy. He revealed, “From my perspective, it felt like people were pulling back, like they didn’t feel a part of it . . . I wanted everybody to feel like they were part of it (this time). I didn’t want to put it together in a room and be super-controlling and everyone’s standing there going, ‘I hate this f**king song.’”
McKinnon told us the current Top 10 single “Paranoia” was the first result of the band’s fresh approach: “It had been a while, and we wanted to just get together and kind of throw around some ideas. We got in a room together and I remember Kevin (Skaff, guitar)was just kind of noodling around and I kind of heard the whole song in my head. So the song kind of came together within a day.”
Bad Vibrations will be released on Sep 2nd, after its originally announced arrival date of Aug 19th. In addition to “Paranoia,” the band has released the title track and the song “Bullfight” from the disc. You can currently catch A Day To Remember on tour opening for Blink-182 all the way through early Oct. The trek pulls into Atlanta tomorrow (Aug 2nd).
Temple Of The Dog, featuring members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, have added more tour dates and you can find the lot of them in Road Rage. Find link on the home page.
And I will leave you with this gem…..
Alternative Press informs us someone has taken pro-shot live footage of Metallica and mashed it up with the Pokémon theme song. The clip has become a viral sensation and has racked up more than 385,000 views at press time after just a few days online. It’s not clear who did it but it was obviously someone with some time and creativity on their hands.
