The Pulse Of Radio reporting members of Korn, System Of A Down, Bring Me The Horizon, Avenged Sevenfold and more have been confirmed to appear at Linkin Park‘s upcoming Chester Bennington tribute concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, October 27th. Shadows and guitarist Synyster Gates, all three members of Blink-182 and more are all on board, with many of them tweeting their involvement.
Additional guests and details are expected to follow shortly. The concert, which is being billed as Linkin Park And Friends Celebrate Life In Honor Of Chester Bennington, was announced earlier this week.
Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda spoke publicly for the first time about Bennington’s death and the band’s future in an interview on Monday (Sep 18th) with Los Angeles radio station KROQ. Discussing the tribute concert, Shinoda said, “I know that for some of the guys in the band, getting on stage is more scary than (for) other guys in the band, but I will say that for all of us, it’s definitely the thing that we want to do. It feels like the right way to celebrate Chester.”
Proceeds from the show will go to Music For Relief’s One More Light Fund in memory of Bennington.
Foo Fighters’ appearance on Carpool Karaoke has been posted online. The band’s ninth studio LP looks likely to move more than 120,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release after arriving in both physical and digital formats last Friday (Sep 15th).
The band’s fall North American tour kicks off on Oct 7th in San Bernardino, California with Cal Jam 17.
Fozzy‘s Chris Jericho has announced plans to launch the inaugural Chris Jericho Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager At Sea cruise aboard the Norwegian Jade cruise ship next year, according to Noisecreep and The Pulse Of Radio. The boat is scheduled to set sail from Miami on Oct 27th, 2018 and will head to Nassau in the Bahamas before returning to port on Oct 31st.
In addition to Jericho, participants for the cruise so far include wrestlers Jim Ross, Diamond Dallas Page, Mick Foley, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Rey Mysterio, Raven and more, along with musical entertainment from Fozzy, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, Kyng and more.
Jericho explained, “The moment I walked off the Kiss Kruise after playing it with Fozzy in 2015, I called my manager with the idea doing a rock and wrestling cruise. My thoughts were that it would feature everything that Chris Jericho is known for: wrestling, rock n roll, podcasting, comedy, paranormal discussion and most importantly, A GREAT PARTY!”
In addition to performances from Fozzy, live editions of the “Talk Is Jericho” podcast, and Jericho’s own one-man show, the boat will feature a wrestling tournament featuring 12 wrestlers in a pool deck wrestling ring.
Fans who book the cruise by Jan 15th will receive a photo with Jericho, while those who book the first 400 cabins will take part in an exclusive Q&A session with him. Fozzy is currently on the road to promote its upcoming seventh album, Judas, which is due out Oct 13th. The title track is currently Number 14 on the rock radio chart.
Tool and A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan discussed the importance of community for creative pursuits in the third installment of Revolver‘s web series, “The Art of Work.” Keenan has previously divulged his hopes of building such a community in Jerome, Arizona, where he lives and has opened the Merkin Vineyards Osteria and the Four Eights Wineworks collective, along with a Puscifer-branded general store and barbershop.
Keenan explains in the clip, “We’ve set up a scenario where people come in, they’re just looking for a job. But hopefully by the time they leave, they’ve made a connection with the Arizona wheat, the Arizona grapes, the Arizona produce, the interaction and the conversation with the barber. There’s commerce and communication that spirals out from there and hopefully we can build on that.”
Keenan has been making wine in the region for years and told us the ultimate goal is to create a self-sustaining community: “What we’re trying to do is re-educate people in a way to show them, look, if we can somehow as a culture catch up with where we came from, with small communities, with a cornerstone of a vineyard and a winemaking community, it’s almost like that’s the catalyst. It’s just the cornerstone. And then you start to remember how you can grow your own food and you don’t have to panic about any of this stuff.”
The singer compares his winemaking to music in the clip, saying, “Rather than making Metallica or Slayer wines, we’re making Pink Floyd wines. You’re not gonna get ’em in 15 seconds. It’s gonna take a whole experience with friends and food — time, investment, focus, presence.”
Keenan does not discuss his musical ventures in the video. Both A Perfect Circle and Tool toured earlier this year, with both groups also working on new albums. Neither one has set a release date however. Watch the episodes here.
The official Jensen Noen-directed video for “Into The Fire” a brand new song from the U.K. metalcore band Asking Alexandria, can be seen above. The track marks the group’s first recording with singer Danny Worsnop since he rejoined the band last fall.
“Into The Fire” will appear on Asking‘s next studio LP, which will be released on Dec 15 via Sumerian. The disc was produced by From First To Last‘s Matt Good and mixed by Taylor Larson.
Guitarist Ben Bruce says: “This is an incredibly exciting period in Asking Alexandria’s career. We have been through hell and back again. It’s been an insanely long road but we couldn’t be more excited that it has brought us to where we are now. We have been given a new lease on life. As individuals, this is the happiest we have been in a very long time.”
Worsnop recently said that he was having “so much fun writing an album I never thought I’d make with people I never thought I’d make on with again. It’s out of the box, out of my comfort zone, out of the ordinary, and out of this world! This is something totally new and unique that I cannot wait for the world to hear. This album has me proud, humbled, reassured, and affirmed. Welcome to a new era, and a new sound which I’m sure in two years will be ripped off by far too many artists (there’s a song about that on here too).”
Danny continued: “You will not hear songs about partying, or girls, or how rock and roll I am. Instead you will hear some of the most carefully crafted songs I’ve ever made that hopefully will live longer than I do.
“Thank you to Ben for writing some phenomenal music for me to create stories with, [bassist Sam Bettley], [drummer James Cassells] and [guitarist Cameron Liddell] for their great talent in making this sound so good, and [producer Matt Good] for heading the operation and fooling the world into thinking I know what I’m doing.”
The reunion between Danny and Asking Alexandria was confirmed last October following weeks of rumors and speculation regarding the status of his replacement, Denis Shaforostov, who joined the band in 2015.
Danny, who released a solo album, The Long Road Home, in February while still being involved with his other band We Are Harlot in between acting gigs, told Finland’s Kaaos TV that he is working closely with the members of Asking to ensure that he is able to pursue other projects alongside his touring and recording activities with them.
When Danny’s return to the band was first announced, Bruce said in a video message Shaforostov had “just stopped talking to us.” But Denis later tweeted, “I left AA because I can’t be in a touring band at this point in my life. There’s no drama and I don’t want to be a part of it.” (Thanks Blabbermouth.)
